About Lina
I believe in the power of yoga to shape and transform our everyday human experience. In creating a more nurturing, positive and peaceful environment on the inside, we are able to expand this to our relationships and the wider community to foster more compassion in our communities.
This has been my own experience which I’m delighted to share with you.
Where my wellbeing journey began
I started practicing yoga regularly over 10 years ago at Fierce Grace in London, UK.
During this time, I experienced physical benefits of losing weight and feeling more vibrant, which encouraged my commitment to a long term regular practice.
At this time, I worked at a major London University, as head of their student wellbeing department. I was responsible for embedding wellbeing into the University to support students during this significant phase of their lives.
This work and this new yoga practice both served to strengthen my belief that compassion for the self and others is essential for supporting health, mental wellbeing and personal relationships.
Personal loss & a new direction
I’d entertained the idea of teaching yoga from time to time but it was after I lost both of my parents in 2023 to terminal illnesses that I decided to do it. Following this traumatic period of my life my career and lifestyle lost meaning to me and I felt the need for significant change.
I began researching ways that yoga can support healing from an emotional trauma and was drawn towards somatic yoga as an approach.
Emphasising the interconnectedness between body and mind, somatic yoga promotes slow, intuitive movement, periods of rest and reflection as a means to release stress, tension and trauma from the body.
This method along with my existing yoga practice supported me through this difficult time of my life and, compelled me to take the leap and do my yoga training.
A new path in Tenerife
Today I have found a new path and set up Tara Yoga in Los Christianos in Tenerife.
In Buddisht and Hindu traditions, ‘Tara’ is a deity that manifests as an inner state of calm and peace, clarity and purpose, wisdom and compassion. This sums up what my yoga practice does for me.
During our classes, I will encourage you to move intuitively and consciously, and choose what feels good for you in the moment. I hope that this will help you to enhance your level of self-compassion to enable you to reconnect with your authentic self, inner wisdom and sense of wellbeing.
I look forward to meeting you on the mat.
